We want to give our clients, potential clients, and vendors an insight into the popular design trends that are happening in the trade show world. If you are exhibiting at a trade show soon, it is essential to stay up to date on what other companies might incorporate into their trade show design. Even if you are just in the trade show industry but are not exhibiting, such as a vendor, it is crucial to know what your clients’ needs are to prepare for demand.
This year we surveyed 50 companies that were exhibiting at trade shows this year, on areas from their product displays to their overall trade show goals. We wanted to know what was most important to them in their trade show booth. We hope that this infographic will give you an understanding of what other companies look for and what is important to them when planning their design. Below are the questions and results of the infographic in further detail.
Under the GOALS section, we asked, what trade show goals/objectives do you wish to achieve from exhibiting?
The top two answers tied for first were, establish a presence on the show floor and amongst competitors, and educate potential clients about products or services. The response that ranked second was to demonstrate a product or service. Third was, gather qualified sales leads. Lastly was, address company positioning in the marketplace.
Why is this question important? It is essential because it is the reason why companies are exhibiting in the first place. Whenever you are creating a trade show booth, it is necessary to keep in mind how this choice is going to help you achieve your goal.
Under the PRODUCT DISPLAY section, we asked, do you need your booth to have a product display area?
72% said yes, and 28% said no.
Why is this question important? If you have a product that you are presenting to clients, having an impactful and designated product display area can make or break your brand image. Your product should be the star of the show, so don’t forget to give it a proper display!
Under the RENTAL OR PURCHASE section, we asked, do you need to purchase or rent your trade show booth?
56% of companies wanted to rent their booth, 18% of companies wanted to purchase their booth, 22% weren’t sure, and 4% needed both a rental and a purchased booth.
Why is this question important? Knowing if you want to rent or purchase your booth is a great start and is the basis for many of your budgeting decisions in your trade show program.
Under the DESIGN AESTHETIC section, we asked, which types of design aesthetics do you want to integrate into your booth?
Open and Airy received the highest ranking followed by Clean and Simple, High-tech and Innovative, Edgy and Modern, tied for 5th Elegant and Industrial, tied for 6th Curved and Organic, and Architectural, and lastly was Closed and Private.
Why is this question important? It is essential to know your design aesthetic and have it as a consistent theme throughout your design. Not only should it be consistent, but your design aesthetic should represent your brand image, and your message should resonate with your audience!
