Nordic HIMSS Conference Case Study

Every year, more than 40,000 professionals in the global health information and technology field gather for the annual conference of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). From health IT vendors and system analysts to the physicians and executives of leading healthcare organizations, the conference brings together the best and brightest of the industry.


“HIMSS brings the industry’s innovators and thought leaders together for a week of networking and learning,” says Samantha Tiller-Schenck, event manager at Nordic, the world’s largest independent healthcare IT consulting firm. Since the company’s inception in 2010, it has participated in the conference’s trade show, comprised of about 1,300 booths.

“One of our main reasons for going is to reconnect with current clients and meet with prospective clients to discuss how we might help them with their organization’s challenges,” she says. Attending HIMSS over the years has helped Nordic expand its reach. In 2018, 10% of its clients were acquired at the conference.

In 2016, Nordic was in search of a new tradeshow house to prepare a booth for the next conference and sent out an RFP to five different companies they’d sourced online. With so much on the line, it was crucial that Nordic find a collaborator who could design an eye-catching booth that accurately portrayed their brand and manage all the details. “We wanted a project management team that would be reliable and proactive, understand our needs, and anticipate issues,” says Tiller-Schenck.

ExpoMarketing won the contract that year and worked with Nordic to create a booth with an environment conducive to deepening relationships. The end result was an open, friendly design that did justice to the company’s brand and included spaces for both small and large meetings. After a successful show, Nordic chose to continue the partnership with ExpoMarketing in 2017, 2018, and 2019.


“For the most part, the experience has been stress-free,” she says. “I know that the project management team will take any feedback we provide, make changes, and improve. When the ExpoMarketing team promises to deliver something by a certain date, they keep their promise.” She also appreciates that the team is on-call during shows to handle any last-minute details or unexpected hurdles. “They’re on top of it so we can really focus on our clients and prospects.”
