When choosing the best display for your trade show exhibit, you have many options to choose from. Two of the most popular options are pop up displays and tension fabric back walls. Exhibitors love these two styles of displays, largely because they are both very portable and can be taken from show to show. While these two choices are very similar, they also both have important differences. We explain further below.
What are Pop Up Displays?
Many years ago, pop up displays were really the only portable option exhibitors had when going to a trade show. The most popular option today is the ten-foot curved model, although they are available in straight styles, as well. Pop up displays have an accordion-style frame that simply expands and locks into place. The graphics are then hung from the top. When positioned correctly, the graphics look like a mural that tells your brand’s story or the message you are trying to convey.
Pop up displays also come in a hard case for travel and storage purposes. While you are at the trade show, the case also acts as a podium. Using the right graphics, you can use the podium to further your message or display your company’s Facebook or Instagram profile.
Pop up displays have very few downsides, but there are some. These displays are heavier than tension fabrics due to the hardware they require. You must also hang the graphics from the top and line them up perfectly, or your graphic will not display properly.
What are Tension Fabric Wall Displays?
Tension fabric wall displays also have an aluminum frame, but they are even easier to set up, as they easily snap together. The frame is set up within minutes and then one fabric graphic is stretched across it, very similar to a pillowcase. You can then zip the fabric closed to keep it taut and stretched across the frame so it stays in place.
Tension fabric wall displays also have many advantages. They are even more lightweight than traditional pop up displays, which makes it very easy to carry them on a plane or ship using other methods. Unlike pop up displays, the graphic is also printed on one single piece, which means you do not have to worry about lining anything up perfectly. Perhaps the biggest downside to tension fabric displays is that they can easily wrinkle and become creased, which can negatively affect the graphic.
