Popular Construction Trade Shows

In order to design the best construction trade show booth, it’s important to understand a little bit about construction trade shows in general. CONEXPO-CON/AGG, World of Concrete (WOC), and the International Builders’ Show (IBS) are some of the most popular construction trade shows in the industry.

Things To Consider For a Successful Booth at a Construction Trade Show Exhibit:

  1. Because there are so many exhibitors at CONEXPO-CON/AGG, it’s important to use a trade show marketing strategy that really helps your CONEXPO-CON/AGG booth stand out. Before designing your construction trade show booth, consider carefully if you want an indoor or outdoor space and how large you want your exhibit space to be.
  2. Choosing an outdoor exhibit space can give you a lot more vertical space and freedom to do different types of demonstrations that are more suitable for outdoors, but outdoor exhibits are also subject to various weather conditions.
  3. When designing a construction trade show booth for an outdoor space, make sure your exhibit is weatherproof and comfortable for attendees in any weather conditions. It is unlikely that there will be extreme heat in January in Las Vegas, but there is a possibility of rain.

CONEXPO-CON/AGG Construction Trade Show

CONEXPO-CON/AGG is North America’s largest construction trade show. It takes place once every three years in the Las Vegas Convention Center and festival grounds, and it attracts more than 100,000 attendees from over 130 countries. This trade show is a very important trade show to attend if you are in the construction business. One of the interesting features of CONEXPO-CON/AGG is that you can select an indoor or outdoor exhibit space for your construction trade show booth. It also features a lot of exhibitor space with more than 2.7 million square feet of exhibitor space and around 2,000 exhibitors.

Bringing Large Equipment at Construction Trade Show Exhibits

Many exhibitors at this trade show bring very large equipment such as cranes, tractors, or other heavy equipment to draw attention to their exhibit so decide if you have any large equipment or machinery that you want to display as part of your construction trade show booth. Since there will be so many booths with heavy equipment displayed, one of the most important things to consider when planning your trade show marketing strategy is how to make your booth turn heads in the midst of such large visual displays. Consider what your trade show booth’s primary goals will be and determine if there are any large equipment or visual displays that you can incorporate into your booth’s design that will set your construction trade show booth apart from the rest.

Technology Can Make You Stand Out!

Many CONEXPO/CON-AGG exhibits also feature a lot of technology, hands-on demonstrations, games, and other interactive experiences. When designing a booth for this construction trade show, try to add an interactive element to your booth that will attract a crowd. Decide your construction trade show booth’s main messaging and determine if there’s any technology or equipment that can be added to your display to make your booth interactive. Consider adding games, demonstrations, or any other hands-on elements to your booth to increase the amount of traffic to your booth.

World of Concrete (WOC) Construction Trade Show Booths

The World of Concrete is another popular construction show that attracts about 60,000 industry professionals every year including international attendees. It takes place in the Las Vegas Convention Center and has approximately 700,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor exhibit space for the 1500 exhibitors it attracts each year.

Indoor or Outdoor Booths for Construction Trade Shows?

When designing your construction trade show booth for WOC, decide ahead of time whether you want your booth to be indoors or outdoors. Outdoor exhibits offer the chance to demonstrate certain equipment that requires more room or proper ventilation. If choosing an outdoor booth, however, you also need to consider the weather. WOC is usually held in January or early February so it probably won’t be too hot, but there is a slight chance of rain or cooler weather. If you choose to design an outdoor booth at this construction trade show, make sure it is weatherproof and that it will comfortably accommodate attendees in all weather situations.

Other Things to Consider

The World of Concrete construction show also features a lot of hands-on displays, demonstrations, competitions, and games. Part of your trade show booth marketing strategy should include making your exhibit interactive. Bringing your product or equipment to the show to let potential customers try it might be a good way to draw attention to your booth. Giveaways, demonstrations, and games will also go a long way to promote your booth. Design your construction trade show booth to incorporate interactive elements in order to get maximum exposure for your company.

International Builders’ Show (IBS) Construction Trade Show Booths

The International Builders’ Show is the number one show for the residential construction industry. It’s the largest annual light construction show in the world. It is usually held in the Las Vegas Convention Center in Nevada or the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. The IBS along with the annual Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) are held next door to each other every year as part of the Design and Construction Week. Design & Construction Week attracts more than 80,000 industry professionals every year. The IBS construction show is unique in that it features an outdoor Professional Builder Show Village made up of model homes built just for this event. It features a few other outdoor exhibits as well, but most of the IBS construction trade show booths are indoors.

IBS usually takes place in January or February. If you choose to have an outdoor exhibit, please be mindful of the weather. Your exhibit should definitely be weather-proof. While small, there is always a chance of rain. During this time of year, it probably won’t be too hot, but you might want to consider some shade for outdoor exhibits. For indoor exhibits, you want to make sure that your construction trade show booth is well-lit since it won’t be as bright in the exhibit hall as it is outdoors. Great lighting, backlit displays, and an impressive visual display will make your booth hard to ignore.

Make it Interactive

Your trade show marketing strategy should also include making your booth interactive. When designing a booth for IBS, plan a way to allow potential customers to interact with your products or services. Hands-on experiences are very popular at construction trade shows. Games, giveaways, a welcoming atmosphere, demonstrations, and interactive experiences are all ways to draw people to your construction trade show booth.

Best Practices For Marketing Your Construction Trade Show Booths

Overall, if you’re wondering how can I market my booth at a construction trade show, the best way is to make your booth interactive. If you can give people hands-on experiences with your products, give product demonstrations, or draw people in with games or giveaways, you will be sure to attract a crowd. Make sure your construction trade show booth is comfortable and welcoming to attendees. At some construction trade shows, there may be some outdoor exhibit spaces. If you choose an outdoor exhibit space, consider the weather when designing your space. For indoor displays, make sure there is plenty of lighting.

WHAT ABOUT RENTING FOR CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES

As a construction company, you know the importance of having a professional design before you begin building a home, office building, hospital or some other residential or commercial structure. The same is true when exhibiting at a building or construction trade show, where a professionally designed trade show display is essential for making an impact on booth visitors. Since 1991, ExpoMarketing has been providing construction industry companies with cost-effective rental construction expo booths that capture the attention – and the business – of attendees. Widely recognized as the pioneer of the rental booth industry, we maintain one of the largest booth rental inventories on the market. We offer many award-winning designs to choose from. And our expert design and build professionals create eye-catching rental booths that provide a custom look and feel without the high cost of booth ownership. Chances are good that your competitors are already taking advantage of this popular, cost effective approach – you just don’t know it.

Experienced exhibitors know that a building trade show booth is the smarter option – even for construction companies that may be used to building their own. You can rent professional looking displays for a fraction of the cost of owning a booth, and you don’t have to worry about ongoing maintenance costs. Renting enables you to easily change sizes between trade shows or convention. (ExpoMarketing offers unlimited size options, from 10’ x 10’ all the way up to a full-sized 50’ x 50’ display or larger.) Renting a construction trade show display booth also helps avoid extra fees for maintenance, refurbishment, pull and prep, and storage.
