First Time at a Trade Show? Here are Some Booth Design Tips

Participating in a trade show is a great step for your business. It can also be a great learning experience for you as a business owner, as well as your staff members. However, if it is your first time attending a trade show, it can be quite intimidating. There is a lot to think about. One of the most important elements of any trade show is the design for your booth. As a beginner at trade shows, you may not even know where to start. Below are some tips to keep in mind when designing a booth that will stand out from the crowd.

You Have Five Seconds to Attract Attention

Actually, you only have between two and five seconds to grab the attention of attendees as they walk past your booth. You must make an impact very quickly in order to encourage them to stop and see what you have to offer. Powerful, bold colors with eye-catching graphics will give your booth a strong visual preference that attracts attention. You are competing against other exhibitions for leads, sales, and prospects so now is not the time for subtlety.

Ensure Your Displays are Readable

Hopefully trade show attendees will be close enough to read the fine print in your trade show booth, but you also need to reach people across the hall or convention center. Any signage you display, particularly on the outside of your booth, should be readable from 20 to 100 feet away. Also, do not squeeze too much text onto one display. Cluttered signs are much more difficult to read.

Consistency is Key

In addition to being readable, the design of your booth must also be consistent. Choose one typeface for headings and another one or two typefaces for the text in the body. Throughout your promotional materials and displays, use these typefaces consistently. Then use the same approach for your colors. Choose one color scheme and use it across all materials. This will ensure that the styling in your booth is consistent and matches your overall brand identity.

Include Your Social Media Profiles

Unfortunately, not all trade show attendees will have time to visit your booth and speak to you or your sales team. To make more connections and capture more leads, make it easier for visitors to find you on your social media channels. Include the URL to your Facebook profile or page as well as your Instagram and Twitter username. Make sure these are easy to remember and that you use a large typeface for them so they are easy to read.
